My name is Inga and I live in a small rural village in Kinross-shire, working from my studio in the garden
I have sewn from a very young age, started making my own clothes when I was about 10 years old, and made my own wedding dress and bridesmaids dresses
I have always been creative and have tried many different crafts over the years. I also am a printed textile designer and maker
In 2022 I saw a post advertising a Kiltmaking course in Edinburgh. Our eldest son was getting married the following year and I asked him if he would like me to make his Kilt. Of course he said YES so there was no going back! I had the greatest honour to not only make his Kilt but one also for our other son and son-in-law
A few friends then asked me to make Kilts and Brèagha Kilts was born
I absolutely love making Kilts and am fascinated by Tartan and it's history. No two Tartans are the same so it is always exciting to start a new Kilt with a different Tartan. I find the hand stitching very relaxing and on a finished Kilt very few stitches are visible even though there can be at least 3000 in each Kilt. I feel very privileged to be able to create something that is part of the Scottish Heritage
